Grants Versus Loans: Student Financial Aid

A paper presented at a meeting of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) on April 3 reported on the results of a study that found a direct positive relationship between government aid and the graduation rates of low-income students from four-year colleges. The study found a negative relationship between obtaining unsubsidized student loans and graduation rates.
