VARIATION AMONG STATES IN HEALTH INSURANCE PREMIUM INCREASES

Health insurance premium increases show considerable variation both across and within states. An analysis was performed at the Urban Institute to identify market characteristics most associated with premium increases and decreases. A conclusion reached is that that there is no meaningful national average. Significant variation from state to state reflects varying levels of competition around the country.
