The American College Application Campaign in fall 2016 reached more than 5,700 high schools nationwide, resulting in more than 773,000 applications submitted by about 460,000 seniors. The number of participating high schools has increased 18% since fall 2015. Begun in one North Carolina school in 2005, the campaign focuses on first-generation students and students from low-income families who otherwise may not apply for college.
