Based on estimates from the National Health Interview Survey, a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that 7.6% of adults under age 65 were uninsured for more than one year when surveyed in the first nine months of 2016, down from 16.8% in 2010. The share of chronically uninsured who are Hispanic, employed, aged 35-44 and live in the South grew over the period, but these sub-groups of the population still made significant gains in health coverage.
