More than 8.7 million individuals selected a 2018 health plan, or were automatically re-enrolled in a plan, during open enrollment at HealthCare.gov, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. A previous estimate did not include consumers who selected or deselected a plan after December 15 due to high volume. About 72% of those selecting plans were renewing coverage and the rest were new consumers. Thirty-nine states use HealthCare.gov for enrollment.
