Background and Aspirations
My career began as a dental hygienist, which gave me the opportunity to become the director of the first-year dental hygiene program at the University of Bridgeport. During this time, I realized my passion for teaching and earned my doctorate in education. I was instrumental in developing the graduate health care administration program at the University of New Haven in 1991 and the undergraduate health science program at Sacred Heart University in 2006.
I am passionate about both the allied health field and teaching, which is why I found your organization a perfect fit for me. My dean is a member of ASAHP which prompted my interest. Two years ago, I presented my course in inter-professional allied health at your conference in Orlando, Florida. It was a wonderful experience of which I met many colleagues that shared my interests. I knew I wanted to become more involved with the organization and immediately requested and was accepted to the membership committee. This is a position I currently hold with your organization. I would like to share my passion and expertise with ASAHP and feel that becoming a board member would enable me to do so. I have had previous board experience as secretary on my local board of education for eight years. I am also on the Connecticut State Medical Examining Board, of which I deal directly with license suspension and revocation. It would be an honor to serve on your board. I hope you meet you in the near future. Thank you for your consideration.
