Background and Aspirations
As I begin my fourteenth year at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, it has been an honor to provide assistance to faculty, staff and students who strive to make lives better. Although the politics of health care continue to change, providing quality education to future health care providers has remained a constant theme at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Allied health programs throughout the country are also working toward developing future health care providers. The goal is the same but oftentimes the means with which this education takes place undoubtedly varies from institution to institution. Having recently completed the ASAHP Leadership Program, the variabilities of education delivery were quickly identified within each member institution
My aspirations for the Association would be to identify best practices not only in education but in research, practice plans, technology, etc. and then find the best possible means with which to disseminate this information to member institutions. Leveraging our members vast best practice experience in a wide variety of areas can only help to increase the health care providers of the future..
