Patricia M. Chute, Ed.D.
Dean
School of Health Professions, New York Institute of Technology

Although I am relatively new to ASAHP I have spent many years being actively involved in a variety of state and local organizations in my field, Audiology. My work within the NY State Speech and Hearing Association has provided me with experiences for working within large groups. I have also been an editor for the Volta Review for several years which certainly provided me with a background in writing, editing and meeting deadlines. I presently sit on two separate boards, one for the New York School for the Deaf and the other for the Deafness Research Foundation. I believe I can bring my skills learned through these experiences to ASAHP. The future of educating Health Professionals has never been at a more critical point. The issues of providing quality clinical experiences while keeping costs contained is one of the most important challenges facing programs today. Forums to explore alternatives and communication with key constituents will be necessary to ensure this aspect of clinical education remains accessible. This is just one of the many charges that ASAHP has identified and will continue to search for a solution. Being part of this kind of movement is both exciting and rewarding.
