My experiences as a dean of a diverse college and now interim provost of Western Carolina University, have taught me how critical multi-disciplinary relationships are in developing innovative and meaningful curriculum, programs, research and engagement activities. The Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions has played a significant role in supporting health related programs by engendering this multi-disciplinary perspective, supporting institutions in identifying resources, and providing a forum for discussion on topics central to the management, quality and growth of health related programs. The role of ASAHP will continue to expand as we collectively weather these tough economic times and endeavor to identify “best practice” strategies for securing our programs and our future.
