Julie O'Sullivan Maillet, Ph.D., RD, FADA, FASAHP is a tenured professor in the Dept of Nutritional Sciences and interim dean at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ)-School of Health Related Professions (SHRP) Newark, New Jersey.

She received her PhD in Nutrition, her M.A. in Nutrition and Higher Education  and her B.S. in Home Economics and Nutrition  from New York University, She completed her dietetic internship at the College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

Julie has received the New York University-Steinhardt School of Education, Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award and the UMDNJ – Distinguished Alumni Award. She received the Medallion Award from the American Dietetic Association, and has been recognized for excellence in education by her School, her University and The American Dietetic Association.

She has served on a number of ASAHP committees including the nominating, research and annual meeting committees, and the Task Force on Clinical Doctorates.

She has served in many capacities in the NJ Dietetic Association, Dietitians in Nutrition Support, and American Dietetic Association including president of each group. She served on the Commission on Dietetic Registration and chaired Council on Education that included Accreditation. She is currently on the Education Committee. Julie is on the editorial board for the Topics in Clinical Nutrition.

Julie has been very involved in the creation of web-based programs at UMDNJ with the School having 9 fully web-based programs. She oversees the Health Science Careers high school program in NJ for the past 17 years that educates about 2000 students a year with about 50% earning some college credit. Julie is author to many publications, including the position of the American Dietetic Association: Ethical and legal issues in nutrition, hydration, and feeding. Other publications include practice roles of dietetic professionals at various levels, scope of practice, and quality of life. She does much public speaking on topics such as the future of health care, ethics, and management issues. She has authored three books and numerous book chapters. Julie continues to teach and advice MS and PhD students during their thesis/dissertation.
