Patricia W. Walker, Ed.D., FASAHP Dean |
Dr. Patricia W. Walker is the Founding Dean of the College of Education and Health Professions at Sacred Heart University (1997 – present). Prior to this, Dr. Walker served in leadership positions in allied health education at the University of Louisville and the University of Illinois – Chicago. Dr. Walker is a Fellow of the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions and has served this organization in several leadership roles including chair/member of the ERAH committee, member of the Board of Directors (1999 – 2001); Chair for the Health and Education Policy Taskforce (2002 – 2004); and Leadership Institute Faculty (2006-2007). Honors received from ASAHP include Kellogg Fellow (1982-1983), ASAHP Fellow (1989), and Cultural Pluralism Award (2001).
Dr. Walker is experienced in strategic planning, and program development and implementation including serving as the Project Director for a federally funded training grant. Dr. Walker has published several articles related to allied health education in peer-reviewed journals. Recent community service includes membership on the Board of Directors of the Cooperative Educational Services (CES) Foundation, Board of Directors of Mid-Fairfield County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and Fairfield County Steering Committee for the American Red Cross/CT Blood Services Region. Her leadership development has included participation in the Harvard Institute for Management and Leadership in Education and the Bryn Mawr Summer Institute for Women in Higher Education Administration.
Dr. Walker received her doctorate degree in Educational Psychology from Loyola University of Chicago. She completed her Master’s degree in Education at Central Michigan University and received the Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in Medical Technology.
