Dr. Susman is Associate Provost for Academic Standards and Research at Mercy College and Professor in the School of Health and Natural Sciences.  He is Director of the Research Infrastructure in Minority Institutions-Career Opportunities in Research (RIMI-COR) Grant from the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, NIH.
Prior to these appointments, Dr. Susman was the founding Dean of the School of Health Sciences and Rehabilitation Studies at Springfield College.  He had served as Associate Dean for Academic Programs in the School of Health Professions and was a tenured Associate Professor in Physical Therapy at Long Island University – Brooklyn Campus.  He also held positions as Associate Dean for Rehabilitation Sciences and Acting Dean of the School of Nursing at Long Island University.  Earlier in his career, he was active in clinical research, physical therapy education, and clinical practice at the Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine of New York University Medical Center, Ithaca College, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and Calvary Hospital.
Dr. William M. Susman has been a member of ASAHP since 1996.  He has served on the Education Committee, as Chair of the Constitution and Bylaws Committee, on the 2009 Annual Conference Planning Committee, and on the Task Force on Economies of Scale.  Dr. Susman is a peer reviewer for the Journal of Allied Health and is a member of the JAH Editorial Board.  In 2009 Dr. Susman was named an ASAHP Fellow and received the Outstanding Member Board Award.
Dr. Susman has served on the Institutional Review Board, Mercy Medical Center, Sisters of Providence Health Care System and the Coordinating Committee of the Regional Workforce Development Partnership for Healthcare of the Regional Employment Board of Hampden County, MA.  He served two terms on the New York State Board for Physical Therapy and is a member of the Council on Undergraduate Research.
Dr. Susman is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo in biology and completed his physical therapy education at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons.  His Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in pathokinesiology are from New York University,
