Rutgers School of Health Professions (SHP) is housed in the division of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS), New Jersey's premiere academic health center, providing outstanding education, research and clinical services in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, public health, nursing, biomedical research, and the full spectrum of health professions. RBHS has also recently launched Rutgers Health, a patient centered, collaborative and interprofessional healthcare provider organization offering statewide services.

SHP is the largest school of health professions in the nation with nine core departments offering programs from Bachelors to Doctoral level as well as numerous post-professional certifications. The Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences (CLS) is a nationally recognized leader in educational programming and is housed in a brand new state-of-the-art laboratory facility on our Newark campus. CLS offers the first professional Doctorate in Clinical Laboratory Science (DCLS) program in the nation, an online Master’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, a Master’s degree in Cytopathology, and a large campus-based accredited program in Medical Laboratory Science.

SHP is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and visionary academic leader for the Department. The Chair of CLS will join SHP at an exciting time with the development of a new Center of Excellence in Diagnostics. This Center will serve as an umbrella for collaboration across research and educational programs that span SHP’s departments of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Imaging Sciences and Health Informatics. The Chair will provide academic and administrative leadership of the department in alignment with the strategic plan of the school and university.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must hold a doctoral degree, current U.S. professional certification in clinical laboratory science, and be eligible for the rank of full professor. They must have an active research program and a strong record of academic leadership. The position is available Spring/Summer 2017.
