Background and Aspirations
Over the past two decades I have had the opportunity to learn and grow from my service to our Association. ASAHP has evolved into a politically active advocate for our member institutions and professions, which ahs put an ever increasing demand on a finite resource base. As those agenda issues have evolved, the membership continues to face pivotal, demanding and taxing challenges: among them an aging faculty, decreased clinical education sites, expenses of clinical education, decreased public funding, increasing student debt, greater competition for qualified students, shifting accreditation requirements, greater dependence upon technology, decreasing clinical reimbursement, and overlapping practice arenas. It is essential that ASAHP have a "seat at the table" in finding solutions to these issues.
My experience serving on the Board, as Treasurer and as the 30th President honed my appreciation for the stewardship required to maintain our current initiatives. Our Association must strategically leverage for the finite resources available to result in the greatest benefit to our members and their faculty and students. I have always embraced transparency and participation during my leadership opportunities in our Association and would expect those principles to be front and center should I be successful. I would hope that each member would feel empowered to actively participate in setting the financial priorities of our Association and the fiscal policies that enable their accomplishment.
