Background and Aspirations

I became a licensed and certified athletic trainer in 1996.  At the time, I was unsure being an educator was where my career would be headed, but I can look up now after 21years as an educator and realize this was my true calling.  I have worked in a clinical setting as an athletic trainer, as well as served as an instructor/professor at four different academic institutions.  I am highly involved in my national, state, and local professional associations in athletic training, and recently became involved ASAHP through the Leadership Development Program this past year.  This experience opened my eyes to the value and tremendous work the Association dedicates toward making all health professions successful members of their academic and practice communities.  I hope to involve varied allied health professionals to become involved in this organization, and feel that as a member of the Nominations and Election Committee, I will be in a prime position to do just that.  It is important that the net of allied health professionals is wide and filled with a mix of those who are competent and successful members of their healthcare communities, and inspire those members to become active in the Association to help us make a statement in the broader medical community as a whole.
