The Human Health Sciences (HHS) program within the Department of Health & Clinical Sciences at the University of Kentucky College of Health Sciences is accepting applications for a full-time, 11-month, teaching-focused Special Title Series (tenure eligible) faculty position. The preferred start date is July 1, 2027.
The successful candidate will join a supportive community of dynamic and dedicated faculty committed to excellence in instruction, research, and service. This position represents the department's second new faculty hire this year and will support continued growth within the Human Health Sciences program.
The HHS degree is a pre-professional program designed for students interested in healthcare careers. The curriculum combines a liberal arts foundation with coursework examining healthcare practices and basic sciences. Graduates are prepared to pursue advanced professional degrees in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physician assistant studies, physical therapy, occupational therapy, optometry, athletic training, medical research, and other health-related fields. Students are also prepared for careers in patient navigation, leadership, and graduate study.
Key Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities for this position include:
Teaching undergraduate courses within the Human Health Sciences program, including courses in ethics, health policy, research in health sciences, social determinants of health, cultural humility, and related areas based on the candidate's expertise.
Participating in curriculum development and continuous improvement of the HHS academic program.
Advising and mentoring undergraduate students.
Participating in student admission activities and other responsibilities assigned by the Program Director or Department Chair.
Contributing to service activities at the department, college, and university levels.
Participating in scholarship and research activities appropriate for a Special Title Series faculty appointment.
Supporting the continued growth and development of the Human Health Sciences program.
The anticipated effort distribution for the position is 65-75% instruction, 10-20% research and scholarship, 8-10% service, and 2-5% professional development. Final effort assignments will be determined annually in consultation with the Department Chair.

Through interdisciplinary coursework, students develop knowledge and skills that complement a strong foundation in the basic sciences while examining the social, ethical, cultural, and policy dimensions of healthcare.

Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
A doctoral degree in a health sciences-related field. Candidates who are ABD will also be considered.
Relevant academic or professional experience in a health sciences-related discipline.
Related fields may include, but are not limited to, public health, health psychology, health communication, health administration, medical sociology, medical anthropology, health education, and social work.
Preferred qualifications include:
Two to three years of instructional experience in health sciences-related coursework in post-secondary education, particularly at the undergraduate level.
Teaching experience in ethics, health policy, research in the health sciences, social determinants of health, cultural humility, or related subjects.
A demonstrated record of scholarship, research presentations, and/or publications.
