Our next board member spotlight is Lisa Dutton, PT, PhD, Dean. Dr. Dutton is Professor and Dean of the College of Health Professions at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. A physical therapist by training, she has dedicated more than three decades to advancing health professions education through teaching, scholarship, and leadership. Her scholarship focuses on interprofessional education, student well-being, and curricular innovation, with numerous publications in leading journals, such as the Journal of Interprofessional Care and the Journal of Physical Therapy Education. She has been recognized with the Margaret Kohli Award for Outstanding Alumnus from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the Stanford Award from the APTA. Dr. Dutton will begin her term as ASAHP Board of Directors Secretary at the conclusion of this conference.

What’s the value of education in the health professions? Health professions education is so important for preparing future health care professionals who will both serve individual patients and promote optimal health for all.
What is the value of ASAHP? ASAHP is a unique interprofessional organization that provides opportunities for networking, learning from one another to advance health professions education, research, and practice, and advocacy on behalf of the health professions.
What are you looking forward to during your ASAHP board tenure? I feel like I have gotten a lot of benefits from ASAHP, and I am looking forward to giving back to the organization and contributing to its direction in the future so that it can continue to meet its mission and the needs of its members.
Your philosophy on education in 5 words: Student-centered, reflective, adaptive, relational, excellence.
Before I retire I want to: Run a 1/2 marathon.
My favorite trip was: Yi Yang, China.

The best advice I ever received was: As much as you might hate it in the moment, challenging times/difficult circumstances ultimately promote growth and make you stronger.
My hobby is: I have many - reading, hiking, travel, eating good food, running.
Only my friends know I: Don’t like treats that mix nuts and chocolate together.
My favorite saying is: Everything in moderation.
