Today the Department of Education (ED) released its final rule on Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF). According to to ED, the final rule amends the definition of “qualifying employer” to exclude organizations that engage in unlawful activities such that they have a substantial illegal purpose, including supporting terrorism, providing gender affirming care, and aiding and abetting illegal immigration. The proposed rule will go into effect on July 1, 2026.
