The Departments of Education and Justice released joint guidance on May 13 to help educational institutions understand their responsibilities to serve transgender students. The American Council on Education (ACE) has released an Issue Brief on the guidance documents of the federal agencies, which looks at select aspects of the guidance and answers possible questions, such as how institutions must refer to transgender students and whether and how to provide sex-segregated facilities to transgender students.
