Physician Practice Owners No Longer The Majority

As an example of how changes in health care can affect the health workforce, a report from the American Medical Association (AMA) indicates that for the first time, fewer than half of practicing physicians own their own practice, according to 2016 data collected in a nationally representative survey of U.S.-based physicians who provide at least 20 hours of patient care per week and are not employed by the federal government.
