The UTMB School of Health Professions
For over a century, UTMB has dedicated its efforts toward improving people’s health in Texas and beyond. In addition to designing and implementing innovative ways to deliver instruction to students at distant locations, the school continuously explores opportunities to expand its offerings and interprofessional learning. The UTMB School of Health Professions offers certifications, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral level health profession programs. In addition to classroom lectures and state-of-the-art simulation experiences, our programs offer clinical training opportunities in a variety of settings to ensure our students have exposure to a multitude of professional opportunities.
The Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Department of Academic Affairs
The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (ADAA) provides leadership and administrative oversight for activities, operations, and procedures related to the management of Academic Affairs.
The ADAA also functions as an advocate in the Dean’s Office to serve the faculty, staff and students within the UTMB School of Health Professions.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledgeable of Regent’s Rules and relevant legislation governing higher education in Texas is preferred.
• Liaison with state agencies and external supporters of higher education.
• Ability to plan, organize, establish, and accomplish goals.
• Demonstrated record of leadership ability and accomplishment.
• Exhibits an orientation and commitment to service.
• Excellent skills in communication, organization, and prioritization.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Ability to analyze/evaluate data and make appropriate recommendations.
• Effective problem-solving skills.
Position Requirements:
• PhD degree or equivalent from an accredited institution in a relevant field.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive responsibility in higher education.
• Eligible for an appointment at Associate Professor level.
• Chair of a Health Professions department and/or experience as a School of Health Professions Assistant or Associate Dean is preferred but not required.
