Background and aspirations for ASAHP

I currently serve as the University of Cincinnati Dean of the College of Allied Health Sciences. In my career, I have held various roles, including faculty member, program director, academic unit head, and associate dean of academic affairs. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the complexities of academic leadership in the health professions.

I have been involved in creating, revising, and improving academic programs, working closely with faculty and staff to develop curricula that meet the evolving demands of healthcare. This work has reinforced my commitment to providing students with the skills necessary for success in their careers while preparing them for interprofessional collaboration in healthcare teams.

My engagement with the ASAHP Midwest Deans Group has allowed me to connect with colleagues who share a commitment to advancing the allied health professions. Additionally, my leadership role in the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), where I served as both a member and chair of the Review Committee for Accredited Programs, has strengthened my understanding of accreditation standards and the continuous improvement needed to maintain high-quality educational programs.

I have also attended numerous ASAHP national meetings, which have fueled my passion for advancing health professions education and fostering interprofessional education. I am committed to advocating for these principles as critical components of student success and improved patient outcomes.

As my term as chair of the accreditation committee is ending, I seek to contribute to ASAHP on a larger scale by serving on the board. This opportunity will allow me to apply my expertise in academic leadership while supporting ASAHP’s mission during a time of legislative challenges. I am excited about the chance to collaborate with others to advance health professions education and improve outcomes.

In summary, my background in academic leadership, experience in accreditation, and dedication to advancing health professions education position me well to serve on the ASAHP board. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to the future of allied health education.
