Background and aspirations for ASAHP

I joined Rosalind Franklin University as Dean of the College of Health Professions in 2022. Prior to that, I served as Dean of Health Sciences within the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota. Approximately a third of ASAHP’s member institutions are private and my experience in these types of institutions would allow me to bring this lens to Board discussions and initiatives. I have been actively involved in ASAHP in a variety of roles since 2018 including service on the Interprofessional Education Committee, Leadership Development Committee, Nominating Committee, and Midwest Deans. I also recently joined the Leadership Development Program faculty. Given my experience across a variety of ASAHP activities and initiatives, I am interested in the opportunity to serve as secretary in order to increase my involvement with ASAHP and contribute to the strategic direction of the organization. ASAHP is uniquely positioned to provide support to our members as we navigate changing federal and state landscapes and advance health professions education, practice, and research. From my perspective, this changing landscape makes it an especially important time to serve within a professional organization, such as ASAHP, that represents schools and colleges of health professions. In addition to meeting the challenges associated with the current higher education environment, ASHAP has the opportunity to further expand academic and clinical partnerships, leadership succession planning, research, and innovation in health professions teaching and learning. Thank you for considering my candidacy. I would be very grateful for the opportunity to serve our members and contribute to ASAHP’s long record of success.
